#5 - Internet Multiverse
What do you love about the Internet? Love, not like? I do love it's capability to almost capture the infinity of human creativity, passion and know how.
No niché too small, no idea too obscure, nothing too unimportant. Somewhere somebody will somehow have posted, published or otherwise shared it. Not in the walled gardens that crowd your phone, but on the myriads and myriads of private pages, boards and blogs sitting next to them.
The Internets Schrebergarten. Full of sub-, pop-, counter-, diy-, fan- and plain culture.
This is 418 - I'm A Teapot, a newsletter about #Engineering #Digital #Ideas and now let's DIVE IN!
ENGINEERING - First stop, a dream of greatness. You are not Netflix, Google Jane Street they say. Your infra does not need micro services, lambdas, control planes and all the other shiny things of engineers wet dreams they tell us. But occasionally it's okay to dream a bit:
Watch: Production Engineering When Trading Billions of Dollars a Day
Second stop: A work of art! Beautiful deep dive into making 3d renders look good on the web. Even if you are 0% technical, give it a go, it's expertly explained and has plenty of interactive illustrations:
Play: Surfel-based global illumination on the web
DIGITAL - Third stop, the piece that inspired this edition. A love letter and manifesto to the small Internet(s) of yonder. While the headline cries despair, the piece itself is full of hope and inspiration for us to keep the open Internet going as a space to bump into each other, to recognize us and others and to remember:
Read: The Internet has no benches
And forth: Sports. That looks like art. Or art. That looks like sports.
Explore: Art But Make It Sports
IDEAS - Fifth, a celebration and critique of all of the above. And endless scroll. An endless adventure.

Sixth, an old idea with a new twist, a jail that frees you.
Check out: ScrollJail - Stop Doomscrolling
Seventh. A friend. For offline. You know.
Install: Kumo - Offline Friend App
Enjoy your tea.

BONUS: Top image is inspired by "Into The Spider verse.", research took me down a beautiful Internet rabbit hole. Feel free to dig in as well.
I Recreated Into The Spiderverse With $0 - YouTube, Art of the title episode, The Revolutionary Animation Style of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Art vs Tech, Lord and Miller Explain Deconstructing Spider-Man, 'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse' Is a Pop-Art Masterpiece, A disgruntled (?) visual consultant and plenty of early material, more material and so many insights into the fine details of how to animate a comic book I can go on and on and on, but let's finish, with a treasure chest, 198 pages material.
Pheeew, I love ya, Internet.
